Prepping for Baby and Birth
Natural Childbirth Education
Our classes (6 week series or weekend intensives) offer an integrative approach to creating the birth you desire at home or in our center. We draw upon ancient wisdom and modern science to prepare mind, body, and spirit for the significant transitions of pregnancy, childbirth, and new parenthood. This class is uniquely designed to include effective techniques from various childbirth philosophies (Bradley, Hypnobirthing, Birthing From Within), medical research, and our own experience to provide you information and support needed for this powerful journey. Instruction includes open dialogue and interactive exercises that foster community through your birth and beyond.
Successful breastfeeding is essential to providing your baby with the very best start in life.
Many women nurse with little or no problems, yet for moms experiencing challenges, getting help can make all the difference! We can support you through common problems such as sore nipples, engorgement, mastitis, latching issues, low milk supply and low weight gain in baby. For moms who have had any type of breast surgery or past breastfeeding challenges prenatal support will help make breastfeeding a success. Be sure to discuss any concerns with your midwife who will guide you to lactation support as needed.
We offer a breastfeeding class; Mama Milk, The Basics & Beyond, which is held every other month. RSVP in advance is required, CALL to reserve your spot in our next class.
In this hands-on interactive workshop you’ll experience connection with your baby through the art of infant massage. Learn ways to soothe and calm your baby and increase bonding. Bring a blanket and your non-crawling baby! Both parents are welcome to attend. Fee includes both parents (or 2 caregivers) & baby. Must RSVP, pre-registration is encouraged to reserve your spot!
Caring for Your Newborn
Join us to learn about caring for your baby. We’ll talk about wake-sleep cycles, breastfeeding cues, normal variations for newborns, and when to call your pediatrician. You’ll learn about caring for your baby with bathing, diapering, feeding, & calming techniques. Fee covers 2 of baby’s primary caregivers.
The course’s goal is to prepare parents & care providers for the most unlikely of events. As a result, the focus is on simplicity of action to increase the likelihood of a good outcome in a potential health crisis. Although it follows the guidelines of the American Heart Association, it is not rigid in its approach. You will have plenty of “hands on” time with a life-like mannequin in simulated emergency situations and, with our guidance, be able to respond in a helpful way.
We look forward to having you join us in this exciting journey of discovery and self reliance. It is a most rewarding feeling to know that if an unexpected event occurs, you will have increased confidence in your ability to make a difference in those lives you value most. RSVP in advance is required, CALL to reserve your spot!
