What if the cord is around the baby’s neck?
This is a common occurrence (30%), and a common concern, but it doesn’t normally cause a problem. Once the head is born the midwife can feel the baby for a cord, if it’s around the neck she can simply slip it over the head or shoulder. If the cord is very tight it can be clamped and cut, but that’s usually not necessary.
